Steel Frame Connections
At Peter Cole Consultants we use the latest design software to design steel frames and the connections for them. Our engineers use Masterseries and CSC Fastrak Building Designer to develop connection designs where possible. Bespoke connections are developed by manual calculation in accordance with the relevent design codes.
We use the following design codes to inform the design of our steel jointed connections:
- SCI Publication P212 – Joints in Steel Construction - Simple Connections
- CIDECT - Design Guides
- BS 5950 Structural use of steelwork in buildings: Part 1 Code of practice for design – Rolled and welded sections
We can design for different classes of buildings as designated in Building Regulations: Part A – Section 5. This incorporates the necessary procedures required for disproportionate collapse.
Types of connection we are able to design are as follows:
- Finplates, flexible end plates, web angle cleats, bolted or welded angle seats
- Baseplates; Moment and non-moment connections
- Haunched apex and eaves connections
- Bracing connections
- Welded hollow sections
