Structural Timber Design
Structural timber can be used to provide many design solutions, whether this be the structure for a floor, roof or wall. Here at Peter Cole Consultants we have the capabilities to provide many design solutions using different types of timber including softwood, hardwood, glulam, eco-joist and I-beams. We use the latest design codes for the design of all our timberwork including the following:
- BS 5268 Structural use of timber: Part 2 – 2002 Code of practice for permissible stress design, materials and workmanship
- BS 5268 Structural use of timber: Part 3 – 1998 Code of practice for trussed rafter roofs
- BS 8103 Structural design of low-rise buildings: Part 3 – 1996 Code of practice for timber floors and roofs for housing
We offer a very competitively priced service for the design of simple timber elements. Starting prices as follows:
- Timber floor design - £50 per floor (Quantity 1-3), £35 per subsequent floor
- Timber beam design - £60 per beam (Quantity 1-3), £40 per subsequent beam
- Flitch plate beam design - Starting from £75 per beam
- Loose cut roof structure including rafters, purlins etc - Starting from £125 per roof
- Feature roof trusses including King and Queen post - Starting from £250 per truss design
All services include a digital set of calculations with hard copies available on request, printing costs may apply to larger sets of calculations.
