The SGSA requires a comprehensive annual inspection of all structures, installations, and components of a given sports ground. Additionally, a thorough structural appraisal must be conducted at regular intervals, typically every six to ten years.

The annual inspection involves a straightforward visual, non-intrusive examination of all structures, installations, and components within the grounds. In contrast, a structural appraisal is more detailed and often intrusive, potentially including a thorough review and testing of structural elements.

These inspections are coordinated with Stadium Managers or Safety Officers and are usually scheduled immediately after the season ends. This timing maximizes the period available for any necessary repairs and improvements to be completed before the start of the next season.
