Design Brief

The centre will include workspace for around 12 start-up companies in purpose built, high specification units. The units will have a maximum occupancy period of three years, after which time companies will have the opportunity to move into ‘grow-on units’ elsewhere on the Park.

Technical Info

The building was constructed as a 140 tonne 2 storey braced steel frame. The sub-structure comprises of pad and strip foundations eliminating the requirement of a piled foundation. Along the central corridor running full length of the building is a first floor plant deck - switching to offices over the main entrance - all pre-cast concrete plank construction suspended off the steel structure. An overall length of 110m required the frame to be split to accomodate movement. Typical bay widths of 10.5m with the addition of a 21m bay required complex engineering to ensure the beams had adequate lateral restraint.
