Design Brief

· Demolish existing single storey toilet block and plant room.
· Provide additional ground floor sales area, additional offices, staff canteen and facilities to first floor.

Technical Info

Peter Cole Consultants were appointed to carry out site investigations and assessement of proposed extension upon a disused World War II ordnance site.
Ground works proposed for ground improvement where vibro store columns with R.C pads and strips. These were installed after remediation and removal of buried tanks in accordance with details, risks assessements and reports provided by Peter Cole Consultants.
A structural steel frame with composite steel deck floors was utilised for speed and ease of construction. Major structural alterations to the existing steel frame were carried out in sequence so as to minimise disturbance to the retail units operation.
