Design Brief

New purpose built head offices to provide PCC staff with an exceptional working environment. The local authority stipulated that the design should compliment the rural setting, hence a barn conversion appearance has been used.

The building required a large administration office, three smaller offices for the Directors, a conference room, a design/drawing room for technical staff and ammenities.

Technical Information

Lincolnshire limestone geology allowed for foundations to be constructed of pads and strips.

One of the main features within the building was a suspended gallery in the main drawing office which was constructed using two steel suspension wires picking up the floor edge.

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) were used throughout the designs. A 300m³ below ground geo-cellular attenuation tank, various soakaway systems and a porous block paving car parking area were chosen to mimic natural drainage and provide passive treatment.
